Okay, I get the message...

 Here I sit, months after blogging about how I need to learn how to rest... with pneumonia. Forced to "rest" at home for about a week now, too weak to get out and do anything. I haven't been to work in 6 days, and I haven't had this awesome, rejuvenating period of rest, either. I just feel light-headed and nauseous and I have this annoying, gargling fluid in my lungs. It's not been any sort of "break" or "rest" from work, but instead, a forced period of doing nothing because I physically can't do anything. Walking up stairs feels like I ran four miles. And I'm not a runner. All of this is to say that if God wanted to force me to rest, He's accomplished that. I get the message. If I won't prioritize rest for myself, then rest was going to come and find me. I get the message. I must admit, all of this is coming at a rather strange time in my life. The World that We Live In- A Prayer

Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of The Killers, included a beautiful lyric in one of his songs, "The World that We Live In." This is the world that we live in, and I feel myself get tired. Boy, is this ever true. I just started a new job this summer, which is so exciting, but in all of that excitement I have been so busy adjusting to working life that I really haven't had time to poke my head out and look up at the world around me.  In some respects, that's a good thing. I have been able to temporarily shield myself from state of our nation and the hurtful rhetoric being used against the least of these. However, when I do have time, or if there is something that is just too big to ignore, it hits me like a train. I am suddenly, instantly aware of just how broken our world is, and how deeply we need our Lord Jesus to come. Maranatha . March 8th -- Joshua 14-17 Read these with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post, or at www.bible.com Well, today's readings weren't very wonderfully exciting either. Hopefully, this doesn't continue for too long... its hard to remember to read every day, since there's only a few people reading with me, and now I'm bombarded with the past couple of tiring readings. But, enough about me complaining. There was a pretty memorable blurb of excitement in the beginning of today's reading, about a man named Caleb. He was one of the spies that had been told to survey the promised land, see if it was safe to enter, etc. The others he went with were making everyone in the land melt with fear, which wasn't good at all. Caleb, however, decided to be loyal to God, and he lived for God wholeheartedly. So, with all this goodness under his belt, Caleb went to Joshua and pleaded his case.
