WHEN YOU'RE DISAPPOINTED.
I don't know about you, but most days I find myself slipping into the clutches of sin and I just get SO disappointed in myself, and in God, sometimes, for not being with me. When, in reality, it was really just me not looking hard enough for Him. Psalm 22 tells us that during our distress when we pray and have faith, that that God will listen to us. That he understands . Believe it or not, getting mad at God doesn't really do that much help.
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, but I find no rest.
Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the one Israel praises.
In you our ancestors put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.
To you they cried out and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not put to shame.
Psalm 22:2-5 NIV
Most of the time when we're disappointed we lose our hope and trust in the Lord. By getting angry with Him for not letting our hopes and plans unfold like we planed them. But Isaiah tells us that with our hope put in Jesus, not worldly plans, we will not be disappointed. With our eyes fixed on him we let go of our disappointment and have hope restored in our hearts.
Kings will be your foster fathers,
and their queens your nursing mothers.
They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground;
they will lick the dust at your feet.
Then you will know that I am the LORD;
those who hope in me will not be disappointed.
Isaiah 49:23 NIV
Why do we doubt how strong and mighty God is? I think sometimes we get confused and think that God is with us sometimes, and can sometimes answer our prayers, but NOPE! He is so powerful and so mighty Jesus tells us that through God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. If you were ever wondering "does God have the power to do this?" If it is in His will, then YES. He does.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26 NIV
When we have problems and disappointment we go to our friends and confidants to talk to. But we seldom use our most powerful weapon against our problems....PRAYER. Talking to Jesus like a friend, telling him our disappointments and prayers can be such a relief! Like Jesus says in Mark 9 some things can only be fixed with prayer. That story is a little more in depth then that so look it up for more information. Mark 9:14-29. So next time you have a problem or your plans fall through pray it up, you might just realize how much it can help!
I know this is a lot to take in, but hopefully some part of the devotion shared can be used by God to speak to you. God won't give us more than we can handle, so keep the faith in His mighty Being whenever you're disappointed.

Dear God,
We need You. We try so hard to make things right in our minds that we forget Your plan and Your purpose. Help us to put You first in our lives, and help us when we fail at that, too. We know You'll always love and forgive us... it's just hard sometimes to repent and turn to You.
We know You are strong, and mighty, and the Maker of all things, and You won't let us fall. Help us have faith in You, always.
Amen
