It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud...

1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is pretty complex, it has a lot of parts to it. But then again-- it's pretty simple, too! Love all, no matter what the world views them as.

Today we're focusing on three aspects of 1st Corinthians 13... love not envying, not boasting, and not being proud. This is especially hard for humans to grasp, because we don't have the right mindset with our blessings.

An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”

Luke 9:46-48

Believe it or not, all good things are from God. Our family, our house, our job, He blesses us with so much and yet we take all the credit. "Look at my new_____," we say. As if we somehow earned the right to have better things than our friends.

And you may say that you worked for months to be able to afford this new thing, and that's great, but I still believe the fact you're even able to possess it is a blessing from God. Why is it that some people are born into poorer families when others are born famous?

God has a plan for each and every person He created. He blesses us with so many things, only so we can give them back to Him... to use them to glorify His kingdom. So instead of envying what others have, or boasting about what you have, be thankful for what He has blessed you with, and use it to further His kingdom!

Use all you have to LOVE. Be humble about your blessings, and love others with all you've got. Maybe that means to lend someone a pencil before a test. Maybe it means to buy your friend something you know he/she has been longing for. Maybe it means buying a homeless person a sandwich.

I don't know all God has blessed you with, but today lets all try and be creative and spread our blessings to others in the love of Jesus!

Dear God,

Thank you for our many blessings. We don't understand to the full extent just how much we're blessed, but we trust that everything we "have" is here for a greater purpose-- YOU. Please help us be content with what we have, and share it humbly, loving everyone we come in contact with.

Amen.
