Day Thirty-Two -- February 1st

Day Thirty-Two -- February 1st -- Leviticus 14-15

Read these short two chapters at www.bible.com or with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post!

Alright. So, there are more rules for the Israelites today, all of which God told Moses, and Moses told his people, so they'd follow the rules.

One thing I realized while reading these chapters was one simple concept: cleanliness. That's why I added the Mr. Clean picture, if you were wondering. All the rules in these chapters were about how to became clean, or how to redeem yourself if you were ever to be unclean.

So, how do we become clean? Now a days, we don't need to follow these sacrificial rules and regulations to cleanse our souls. We simply ask Jesus for forgiveness, (and we have to actually mean what we say,) and we should be forgiven. As long as you believe you sins are forgiven, we should be covered, right?

Think again.

So, we need to take a shower or something to be clean? We need to use extra soap? Is that what the deal is all about?

Think again. (Again.)

We need to wash our hair? Brush our teeth? Try to refrain from "dirty" language?

Man, you're terrible at guessing. How about I just tell you? Asking Jesus for forgiveness is a major part in staying clean and living a pure life. However, you have to believe in him, too. It would make no sense to ask him for forgiveness when you don't really believe or understand that he died for us.

Get this: his hands were nailed to a cross. He had to drag it up a hill, with thousands of people cheering. Not cheering for him, but because he was going to die. Every Jew and Pharisee hated him with all of their heart.

Well, what'd he do to deserve all that pain?

Nothing.

He lived a perfect life, and did everything he was supposed to. People envied that he was the Son of God. They were worried that people would start to follow Jesus instead of their normal "gods" and that their land would fall apart. Jerks.

So, Jesus was put to death, even though he didn't do a thing. It's very sad and heart-breaking... but He had a purpose for everything. He died so all of our sins could be forgiven. He was the ultimate sacrifice.

That's why I'm trying not to make a big deal about all of the rules that people had to follow... because none of them are that important today. Except for the ones about moral, and doing the right thing... all the rules disappeared when Jesus was crucified.

If you believe that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and died for our sins, and rose up from the dead, and believe he is the one and only God... then you're clean. You're safe. All your sins can be washed away if you let Jesus into your heart.

However, if you think all of this is bologna... then all these rules should still apply to you. Good luck sprinkling a dove's blood over a handmade tabernacle, and waving a goat's intestines in the air for an offering.

"... And whoever believes in him shall never die, but have eternal life."
-Part of John 3:16

So, yeah. I'd like my soul to live forever, what about you?

Go in Peace!
