Isaiah 53-56
I absolutely LOVED the chapters for today. Loved loved loved loved loved. They were incredible and wonderful and eye-opening and spectacular... I LOVED TODAY'S READING.
So, I apologize if my blog is a little (okay, a lot) longer than it usually is. The chapters for today were just filled with SUCH a great message and SUCH wonderful miraculous happenings... it might take a while to explain how greatly I enjoyed reading them.
You should probably (okay, definitely) read these chapters right now with the BIBLE READER widget to the left of this post, or at http://www.bible.com/ or with your own Bible, if you want. But make sure no matter what you use that you DO read the chapters. Because... they're awesome. (If you didn't get that already.)
Reason #1 why the chapters were AWESOME today:
They told the exact story of Jesus, 700 years before it happened.
I'm not lying, people. The prophet Isaiah lived more than 700 years before Jesus was even thought of. Before Mary was born, before Mary's great-great-grandma was even born. The fact is, the chapters we read today are so ancient that there is NO way they could ever tell a story that happened hundreds of years in the future WITHOUT the power of God.
Think I'm crazy? Did you read the first chapter in today's reading?
All of the below verses were pulled from the 53rd chapter in Isaiah:
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
This is spectacular to me! How AWESOME is it, right? It just makes me so thankful to be able to worship a God so great and powerful. That He could talk to Isaiah, and tell Him what will happen in more than 700 years in the future. How else would of Isaiah known that? What other explanation is there?
I didn't intend this blog to be offensive, or to aim at any certain person or group of people. But it just drives me crazy how people can't have a belief in this AWESOME God, and how people can just choose NOT to follow Him!
Granted, God gives everyone a choice. He lets every man and women, boy and girl... every human on the earth CHOOSE whether or not they want to have faith. But to make the choice even MORE clear, He sprinkles in all these miracles into the picture! But He is still ignored sometimes, which makes me really sad.
That's why it's SO important for us to spread the word of God, people. It's our duty as Christians to go out into the earth and tell people of these AWESOME things that happened, and are still happening today! I loved today's reading because it encouraged us to go and gave us a reason to believe.
Reason #2 why the chapters we AWESOME today:
They personally invite all people to have faith in Jesus.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. God is inviting each and every person to share this love and faith, and it's open to anyone.
Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way
and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
Reason #3 why the chapters were so AWESOME today:
You will be blessed for your actions!
Not only does God make it easier for us to tell others about God and follow His ways, He also blesses us for it.
Isaiah 56:1-2
This is what the LORD says:
"Maintain justice
and do what is right,
for my salvation is close at hand
and my righteousness will soon be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
the man who holds it fast,
who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it,
and keeps his hand from doing any evil."
Alright. I've given enough reasons as to why today is so awesome. So take advantage of it, and go out into the world!!
Peace.
