Nahum 3

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Yesterday's post was all about how God will always prevail, no matter what the circumstances, and today's reading did a complete flip. The chapter was a little depressing, actually, and I kind of made me feel guilty. It's so difficult to realize that we as humans will ALWAYS sin, no matter how hard we try not to. I want so badly to be able to wake up and be blameless-- without fault.

I know that's never going to happen, though. There will always be temptations and distractions from our faith, and it makes me want to punch a wall. But I won't do that, because then I can't type for you guys :)

Life is good, because God will always be the one to come out on top. He'll always overcome evil, even when it seems there isn't a good balance between good and evil in the world.

I saw this movie a few months ago called "Devil." It was a horror movie, and I wasn't a big fan of it, simply because I don't like scary movies that much. But anyway, it was about how Satan was possessing people and making bad things happen, yadda yadda yadda. I wasn't very interested in the spiritual concepts of the movie until the end. The main character, throughout all the murder and problems that the devil caused, came to an interesting conclusion. He told the audience a disturbing story that his mother used to tell him as a child about the devil claiming people's souls.

He said:
'After my mother would finish her story, she would always comfort us. "Don't worry," she'd say. "If the Devil is real, then God must be real, too."'

The point here is that badness will always have a desire to take over... but there's a major upside... it never will.

If you believe that God has a plan, and sometimes that plan may even involve suffering, then there isn't anything to worry about. Jesus even said that we WILL encounter trouble in the world, but we shouldn't worry because He already overcame the world!

So pray with me, if you wanna :)

Heavenly Father,

So often we get caught up in our busy lives that we forget to remember You. Darkness closes in on our lives, sometimes without us even noticing. It's a bummer, too, because we have a desire for Your goodness, but get distracted and stray away from You.

Help us to trust in You, and understand that hardship is sometimes a large part in growing closer to You. Give us peace when times get tough, and let us not forget that You count on us to spread Your message. Please allow us to bring Your light into all situations, and let everything we do reflect Your light, not ours.

Thank you for our many blessings, and be with those who are in need of a Savior.

In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.
