Philippians 4:4-7

The passage to read is super short today, people... so read now if you wanna :) Somehow even the shortest number of verses has got my head thinking twice as hard as it usually does. I guess I'll just post the passage below-- its pretty short.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Dear Jesus,

It is so hard to rejoice when each day of this life is pulling apart at our hearts. We know that You are strong, and You have blessed us with many blessings. But even still, evil continues to pry open our hopes and it is difficult to understand that this will never stop.

Help us react how You want to, Jesus, handing over all our anxiety to You, our Redeemer. Help us to pray when things get hard instead of worry. Grant us just a fraction of your great peace, that we so desperately need now, Jesus. Have Your spirit guard our hearts so that we focus on YOUR goodness instead of the goodness of the world. We know that the greatness that is of man, lust, envy, jealousy, false hopes... all of these things won't last but a moment.

Help us to sail toward You instead of ways of the world. Help us focus on everlasting peace, joy, and love, instead of temporary happiness. That way, Jesus, we can truly rejoice when we live all our days with You.

In Your heavenly name we pray,
Amen
