1st Chronicles 25-26

WHAT ARE YOU IN CHARGE OF?

For some, it's way too much. For others, there's nothing they are responsible for. Although having too much to do can be dangerous, it's also bad to do nothing.

The people in today's reading, even though they were only mentioned by their name-- had many responsibilities. Some were in charge of people, or the King. It's good to have responsibilities, but do you balance yours?

If you live your life without responsibility (you know who you are :~) ) there might be a day where you HAVE to take responsibility of something, and what happens then?

What happens when you are forced to be in charge of something, and you haven't been in charge of something ever?

What happens when you have to be in charge of something and you're so busy there's no way you can?

It's all about balance. If the chick in the above picture would learn to balance stuff, then she'd have it better off. Now, I'm not talking to literally balance STUFF, (because she's doing a fine job of balancing the laptop and the phone...) it's probably because of her 6 arms. She's not an insect!

No, I'm talking about balancing other stuff. Balancing education, church, family, your jobs and responsibilities, your hobbies-- it gets hard! I know I'm always telling people to pray when you're in need, and to rely on God for everything, which I won't ever take back.

In fact, with today's topic it's even MORE important to rely on God. He is going to have to rely on his followers every once in a while. He uses ordinary people to help preform miracles, or be that little guardian angel to someone in need. It's like a task that you may not want to do, but you HAVE to. (No, God will not stomp on you with iron fists if you don't follow His commands. But He might get kinda angry.)

So back to the topic at the top, about balancing things. If you have a good balance, and work hard... (but not too hard,) then you'll be ready when God decides to use you.

Let's say you're on of those busy people *cough cough,* (me) that has a lot of unneeded stuff on their mind. They work too hard at things that aren't that important, and when God tries to use them as His workers-- they're too busy to see His signs.

Then there are the people who aren't in charge of ANYTHING, and rely on others ALL the time to help. It's okay to rely on someone everyone every once in a while... but if you're not used to being in charge of something, do you think you'd make a great worker for God?

It's all about-- like I said-- balance. That's the word of the day. Make your faith important in your life. Maybe try and read the Bible everyday, or read my devotions every day. Try and balance everything and make SURE there's room for God in everything you do.

In order to have God rely on you, you might have to rely on Him when times get tough, which is perfectly and completely normal!

Do I sense a little sense of frustration with "too many irons in the fire?" We have all had times, days, weeks, months, like this. We feel stretched to the limits. Sit back, take five....reflect, breathe, and pray. God is the center of all things. He can center you.

I like this a lot. I was just talking to a very good friend, who is torn in so many directions. She is a very creative person, but doesn't know what to do with all of that energy. She has so many ideas that she ends up not doing anything.

I think Carly's message is similar to mine, though hers is much more articulated. Listen to your heart and find the fire and passion inside. Let it guide you. Find the center
and the rest seems to fall in place.

I may have strayed from Carly's message, but it certainly resonated with me!

No, I see what you're saying. Even if your center isn't religious, it's important to have priorities. I just choose to have my priorities my faith, because they (meaning God and Jesus) really seem to help me get through the times that are REALLY tough, when I don't have it all together. Not to mention the forgiveness and eternal life part :) Haha.
