2nd Chronicles 1-4

HAPPY NATIONAL PRAYER DAY!

What's this mean, you ask? Why does our country have such a day? Whether or not you agree, this day is very important in our country and is not only practiced by the Christian faith, but by others, too.

Unfortunately, this can cause some controversy. I believe this is important, because it reminds people our need for a good relationship with God. But other people and their "gods" decide otherwise. I think it's GREAT to have different opinions, because they contribute to society, and blah blah blah.

But let's just all agree it stinks to be confused. When there are SO many religions and faiths out there, what the HECK are WE supposed to think?

This blog should (hopefully) answer that question. For all faiths.

I'm feeling that God is helping more and more as my devotions go on, because today our reading was about prayer AGAIN, which is so cool... and helps me with my devotion. Having a reading that relates to the devotion is much easier and comforting. Thanks be to God.

In today's reading, Solomon was confronted by God in a prayer. Since it's national prayer day, I thought we'd make that the question for today's reading. Maybe you're wondering "this whole 'prayer thing,' what is it all about? Can I pray? What will happen if I pray?"

And Solomon's prayer pretty much sums it up for all of us. If you haven't already, please read the reading for today. It's probably only necessary to read the 1st or 2nd chapter of 2nd Chronicles, this is where the action is.

These are Solomon's words:

'O Lord God, let your promise to my father David now be fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this great people of yours?'

All Solomon asked for is for God to help HIM, with HIMSELF and HIS WISDOM. And guess what God said?

‘Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honour, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may rule my people over whom I have made you king, 12wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches, possessions, and honour, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.’

So, if you were wondering what it means to pray, or who you should pray to, just read what I just said again. The Bible isn't just a storybook. It provides information (which is FACTUAL and ACCURATE) and guides us in any situation.

So today, if you're confused on who to pray to, please trust the word of God. Trust that God will meet with you wherever you are. All you need to do is admit that you need Him.

Here's a really cool song that depicts this message:

Other than that, have a lovely day. Maybe post a link to this on Facebook? Convince others of their need for Jesus.

Thanks, and Peace.

If we keep our prayers in line with what God wants us to do, pray for His will in our lives, then we can sit back and let things happen! Prayer for "things" does not work. Prayer keeps us in line with God's plan for us. We ask for what we want, but if it is not God's will in our lives, then it is not the game plan. I will catch up when we get home. Good luck on the prayers for Student Council....if it is according to God's will, then it is a given, if not, we go on to the next adventure in this life. Love you Carly Gaile.
