2nd Corinthians 1-4
BETTER DAYS
The suffering of people is constantly brought up and is reminding me of all the trouble in the world. It seems like everywhere I turn, there's a brand new tragedy that I try and pray for. But all this constant praying get pretty monotonous, and it makes me wonder-- when will things get better? Why do things go wrong in the first place?
I almost cried reading the first chapter of today's reading. How AWESOME God is, that He was able to open my eyes and help me through everything! I'm so thankful for all He is constantly doing in my life, but especially what He opened my heart up to in today's reading. I loved this passage:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
2nd Corinthians 1:3-4
Yes, sometimes trouble is thrown our way. It's sad, but it's part of life. And guess what? It says above, in clear print, that God will comfort us in ALL of our troubles. All we have to do is call on Him.
Ask God for His hope, and comfort, and things will look better and better. Without Him, where is the better days? Without Him, will things ever seem better? All things good stem from God.
Sometimes, I think people get so angry at God for not pulling them out of their misery. "WHY, GOD?!" we ask. All we can do is ask for Him to hug us tight, so we can understand things will get better. We might not understand WHY something is happening, but we'll understand that it will get better with God next to us.
The verse also says that we can comfort others in their times of trouble. God does things sometimes, and it might seem as if we're going to die right on the spot.
But with Him, we persevere, and we now understand how to help others in similar situations.
We have to experience bad before we can understand good. And with God's help, we can help someone else understand it, without the same struggle. We can show them right off the bat that they are loved, and it prevents them from the bad days.
Love yourself. Love others.
But most importantly, love God for sending His love down to us, so that we know WHENEVER we're struggling, better days are just around the corner.
I hope you believe in this enduring hope, so that you know you're not alone. No, you can't "see" God's hope, or any sense of hope, for that matter. But it's the strongest feeling you'll ever feel.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
