TRY TO PUT YOURSELF IN HIS SHOES.

People hear this kind of cliche stuff all the time. And as much as it kills me to say it-- it's pretty spot on to today's reading and the central message in a short passage I found. If we think of Jesus and all of His suffering, and try to even comprehend how much that would affect us, we might learn a little from it.

Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with him,
we will also live with him;

if we endure,
we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
he will also disown us;

if we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.

2nd Timothy 11-13

It's pretty confusing and profound, but I love it. Let's try to make some sense of it, shall we?

First, if we die with Jesus in our hearts, we'll live with Him in our hearts. That wasn't so bad.

If we endure the hardships that come with faith in Him, then we'll reign with him in Him in heaven. Pretty simple.

If we disown or deny our faith in Him in front of others, He will disown us in front of His Father. This is really similar to this verse:

Matthew 10:33

...but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

Also, the last part of the passage is really interesting, talking about us being faithless. It says that even when we lose our faith in Jesus, He'll always remain faithful. Always. And I love the fact that Jesus welcomes us with open arms, even when we've lost our way.

He loves us even when we forget all He's done for us, but that doesn't mean we should forget! We should always try and put ourselves in Jesus' shoes and remember all He has done.

Because even when it becomes hard to have faith, we can't ignore the history behind our awesome God. Jesus died, and rose again, and THAT'S something worth thinking about.

Peace out.
