Day Fifteen

Day Fifteen -- Genesis 47-50

You might think this is silly, but I'm just going to come out and say it:

Is anybody reading this?

I wish there were like a stalker-gage on this blog so I could see the # of people who have visited this blog. Unfortunately, there is no such tracking device. I might have to invent one of these.

Seriously, though, if you are reading this, and you have ANYTHING to say, please, don't hesitate. You can say and praises or insults or you can post questions about anything you have on the reading. You can even tell me how much you HATE this blog. I won't be mean. I guess having an angry reader is better than NO reader.

Sigh. Okay, let's get this thing started. Remember, you can always read today's chapters on the scroll down BIBLE READER to the left of this post... or you can look up Genesis 47-50 at www.bible.com.

Today's reading pretty much ends the whole Joseph saga. It started with his colorful coat, them his brothers' jealousy, then him being sold off to a traveler, who sold him to Pharaoh, who promoted him, then threw him into jail, then let him interpret a dream for him. Then there was a famine, and Joseph's brothers came to get food from the rulers in Egypt, Joseph being one of them. He pretended not to be Joseph, and created a plot to bring all his family together again... and they did. Many Hall-mark moments, and births, and deaths, and the whole nine yards.

Today, Jacob (the father of Joseph) died. Well, not actually TODAY. A longgg time ago. But in today's reading, Jacob dies. May he rest in peace. Anyway, his son Joseph brought his sons to get blessed by him before he died. There was a hugeeeee family gathering around his bed, for Jacob to bless everyone, and tell everyone his burial wishes. He talked about each of his sons, and blessed Joseph's sons.

Oh yeah, and when talking about each of his sons, he had a hugeeeee speech to say about Joseph. It makes me wonder why Joseph was loved the most... but whatever it was, it worked. Jacob had poetry and all kinds of things to say about his son, then he took his last breath and died. RIP.

His sons buried him right where he wanted to be buried, in some cave that his father and grandfather were buried. There was a nice service, with lots of sobbing and mourning. All of Egypt mourned.

The Bible doesn't say exactly when, but some time afterwards Joseph died, too. His brothers still tried to trick him, all of his life. But, he had a great aspect on life and loved God with all of his heart. He told his brothers that they would be successful in life, and yadda yadda yadda until he too, took his last breath.

That is the end of Genesis!! WOOOHOOO! Exodus awaits!

Go in peace!
