Day Twenty-Six

Day Twenty-Six -- Exodus 35-37

Please read these chapters at http://www.bible.com/ or with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post.

Today has a really good message. Especially in respect of the terrible tragedy in Haiti a few weeks ago... it has a good message of pulling together and helping others when they're in need. Like the Beatles said,

"Come together!"

Haha. So, we left off yesterday with the wonderful story of all the believers in God who had to kill the non-believers, because they worshipped a golden cow. They weren't very smart... thinking they needed a material object to praise... so, yeah. They broke a commandment by creating an idol to worship, and they died.

They were told that if they disobeyed the commandment that "no God was to come before the true God," they were to be put to death. Shame on them.

So, all the believers lived, because they came to Moses when he asked who believed and who didn't.

Do you remember the last few days? How Moses kept receiving all these rules that the Israelites were supposed to follow? There were soooo many of them, from things like "the tabernacle should be __ high and made out of __" to "the high priests should wear___." There were tons of rules, chapters after chapters of rules.

Today, those rules come into play. Moses tells all of God's people all the rules of the Sabbath, and worshipping, and how sacrifices were to be made. All of the Israelites brought all they had that was valuable, gold, bronze, fine linens, acacia wood, and so on and so fourth.

Moses picked some of the highest skilled craftsmen, and asked them to build the tabernacle with the materials everyone sacrificed, (and were continuing to bring) to Moses.

When the craftsmen started to build, they realized they had more than enough materials! You'd think they would need a WHOLE LOT of materials, because everything they were ordered to create was to be made out of gold, or fine linens... all of which is very expensive and very treasured.

But with all the Israelites contributing, there was more than enough materials.

That just goes to show you, that there isn't a limit of how we can help out. Even if things don't have anything to do with you, like the earthquake in Haiti, you can still help out. The results are greatly appreciated!

If you'd like to donate, there's an organization called World Vision. It sponsors kids in Haiti that are suffering with AIDS and poverty. Even a little donation can help, and like you've read, if everyone donated, the world will be better in no time, and there will be more than enough blessings.

Don't have that much moo-lah? The economy is hard on everyone. Keep the Haitians in your prayers, and anyone else whom the earthquake affects. Pray for World Vision, too.

However, if you can find it in your heart to donate, here's the link that will bring you straight to a donating site:
