Day Ninteen

Day Nineteen -- Exodus 11-13

There's a lot of funky laws and rules that happen in these mere 3 chapters. Please read them with the BIBLE READER widget located to the left of this post, or you can go to http://www.bible.com/ to read it there. Thanks!

Okay, so I saw yesterday's post... and the horrific graph that went with it. It stunk. I've put it on photobucket if you want to see it... just click on the link for a version you can actually read and understand... it's posted below this post. Thanks for your cooperation.

So, back to the Bible. It's important stuff, today's reading. It shows just how powerful our God is, and what makes him the ONLY God in the universe.

He sent a bunch of plagues to Pharaoh in hopes that he'd let God's people go. Except... Pharaoh wouldn't let the poor Israelites go.

It was time for God to take drastic measures, and he laid out a specific set of rules for each follower of God to follow. It was silly things, like "you can't have yeast on these days, or you can't sacrifice a sheep unless it was one year old", and all these silly rules.

You're probably wondering, "WHY DID GOD HAVE ALL THOSE RULES?"

But, put yourself in the spot of a person back then. If you knew that God was going to kill the firstborn of each family if you didn't follow all of these rules, wouldn't YOU follow them? God is giving us sooooooo much. He saved their lives back then if they listened to him, and today it's fairly similar. If you follow God's commands, he'll protect you, and make you prosperous.

Contrary to popular belief, a fortune-teller or a lottery ticket can't change your future. It all depends on what YOU do for God, and that's what he'll do in return!

You can start small if you like, by being nicer to people, or donating some money to the church every once in a while. It may seem stupid to follow God, because you don't always get to see the direct effects of it. However... if your faith is strong in him, and you do what HE says, he'll save your life.

That doesn't mean he'll protect you from everything, and you'll live forever.

Your soul will, though. Your soul is given over to Jesus when you beieve in him, and that's all he wants. He doesn't need you to sacrifice a lamb, or cook bread without yeast. He wants you to follow him... and that's all it takes in heaven.

You have to believe in him, and do what he asks of you. It's very cliche, but always think WWJD? Or,

"What Would Jesus Do?"

Try it sometime... I think we both want you to have eternal life.

Go in PEACE!!
