GIVE 'EM A CHANCE.
Have you ever seen someone you think is going to be super awesome, so you go to say hi, and it turns out they're totally not what you expected? Maybe it's the opposite, someone might of looked scary but they end up being a really cool person.
My fact is, God tells us to reach out to those people. To the people that look different, act different, talk different. Most times, different is better. And even if they seem even MORE weird or mean once you talk to them, God is always telling us not to judge people. Heck-- if it was okay to judge, then God would be awfully mad at me.
You see, we all have faults. I talk to much. I'm a little on the strange side. I have high expectations. I stink at bowling.
I sin.
And if you're a human being, then you must sin, too. And God sees everything that goes on in our lives, but He forgives us. He loves us more than words can say, even if we're different. I think we need to treat others with that same respect. It's hard sometimes, because different people make us feel awkward sometimes. But in the end, that person might just be the person we need to talk to-- that certain person that God is calling us to minister to.
Everyone can be missionaries, in your small town or in a different country. We just need to listen and love, and tell others about a God who really loves them.
In today's reading, there was a similar story. Back then, there was no savior in Jesus, so people were punished really badly for their sins. But it makes sense, because they did some nasty sins! They were worshipping other Gods, and burning all these weird incenses to they sky.
They were weird. They were different.
And it was Ezekiel's job to try and tell them to change! Can you imagine? Having THAT important of a job, just like Ezekiel did. He must of been under a lot of pressure.
Today, we should take on similar roles. We need to reach out to the mean people and the people we consider weird, because we all need saving. Let's face it-- I need Jesus, you need Jesus, your weird classmate needs Jesus. We're all in need of saving. We're all weird, we're all different. We're all sinners.
WE ARE DIFFERENT TOGETHER.
