Jeremiah 51-52

Read these last two chapters with the BIBLE READER to the right of this post or at http://www.bible.com/.

LIVE.

In today's reading, God did what He said He'd do. The Babylonians died, in the blink of an eye. A lot of things remind me that we have to live life to the fullest, especially the fact that God can give and take life away in an instant.

He doesn't do it recklessly, He has a plan, but we never know when He's coming again. We never know when it's our turn, our neighbor's turn, our own family members' turn, to be a big part of the plan. We never know when the gift of life will be taken away.

And we can do one of two things.

1: We live life in fear. We realize that we don't have control of our lives, and we hide under our figurative covers until we feel safe. We don't do anything reckless, we never take chances, we're constantly finding new things to be afraid of...

OR

2: We love God and LIVE.

God has all the power. He's the guy with the big plan, and the big picture. But we aren't here on earth to be His little puppets. We're here to LIVE. To LOVE God and to LOVE others, even when it's hard.

If we accept the fact that God has a plan and just LIVE, we don't have to worry. It's normal to be sad sometimes, or hurt, but we shouldn't be confused all the time. We should know in our hearts that better days are coming, and just LIVE for as long as we can.

If we don't love God in the process, we might just turn out like the Babylonians in today's reading. And hopefully no one wants to end up like them.

God gives us LIFE. So we might as well live.

Peace out.

It is good to know that God has the plan, and we can sit back and coast! The plan might not be all rosy, but we are guaranteed the strength to endure what we must, when we have faith in God.

i really liked this one. when i was litte i was afraid of dying because i was afraid of leaving my family. the way my dad explained it to me he said that God wouldn't let me die until it was my time and that i couldn't be afraid of when that time would come. i learned that if i loved the LORD i could even be excited for that day so i could meet him. i grew in my faith and later that year i was baptized.

Erin that's such an awesome story! I'm so happy you shared it. Your dad was completely right, too. We should be glad for the day we get to dance into heaven. It's funny how the things that we hear as children stick with us :)
