2nd Samuel 1-4

BE INDEPENDENT.

Welcome to 2nd Samuel! If you haven't read today's reading, please read now at http://www.bible.com/ or with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post!

Alright, so let's get this started. There were lots of murders and betrayals and family conflicts and mourning in today's reading. I know, seems a but overwhelming. But what I got from it is to be independent (as seen in the picture I posted above.) :~)

Basically, there isn't a way to change someone from the first day you meet them. Well, I should probably rephrase that. People can change someone in little ways, like making them grateful for a little or something.

But converting wise... it's very hard to change someone in one day. It's every man for himself, which is kind of depressing sometimes. But it's always important to note that sometimes you CAN change someone, just by sticking to your God, and following what HE wants.

For instance, there were so many things happening in today's reading that may of caused some doubts. It did for me, anyhow. Like, how can someone murder their own brother? And how can King David just slaughter someone when he didn't even know them? These things are little road bumps, as I like to call them, that stop us from having a clear and easy relationship with Jesus.

It's that little thought that says "well, how can there be a God when..." or "what does that Bible say about..."

And my personal favorite is "how can I change something when it seems so big?"

You can't change something in a single day. I mean, you can... but it's very hard (not necessarily impossible) to convert someone in a single day. And that's just ONE PERSON, too.

There are jillions of people in the world. There are so many people to change, so many people we could have an impact on. And yet-- it's almost impossible to help a single person sometimes.

So, how? How in the WORLD are we supposed to change someone? It seems so hard, to even talk to someone sometimes. But, I've found that there's an easy way to have an impact on a single person, or a whole group of people!

All you have to do is be responsible for yourself. Be self-sufficient, be independent. However you want to say it... if you think about how YOU believe and stay true to what YOU believe, then people will definitely follow. People will see what YOU do, and they'll become interested.

This isn't a proven fact or anything, but if you walk up to someone and say "lemme tell you about Jesus..." they might not cling to Him with as much interest. However, if you live your life, and stay true to Jesus, it will rub off on the people around you, I promise.

People might see you pray before meals, or thank God for simple things. Some might shake it off their shoulder, which is normal. But after a while... people will catch on. So not only THANK God for what you have, but pray to him about your problems too. Assure people that "you'll pray for them."

Again, people might not think about Jesus in that moment at all. It's hard to have a big rush of love from a simple encounter with a person. But like they say, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try, again!"

If you stay true to what YOU believe, blessings will occur. It happened to me today with my blogs, so I promise you that Jesus will bless you as well.

Got it? Excellent. Adios!

Stay true to your beliefs, pray to God to help you live your life to glorify Him, and little by little people see your actions...more than words, and they want to be like your God and like you! It is hard to defend with words the bad things that happened in the Bible and now in our lives, and defend our God and our beliefs, but if we stay true, knowing that we are not in control, and can't change such BIG TICKET things that happen, good comes from our steadfast faith. People do change, and want to be more like God...and you!

Agreed. People watch our actions all the time. We might as well make something out of it :)
