March 11th -- Judges 1-3

Start off the book right! You can read these chapters with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post, or at http://www.bible.com/.

Joshua must have been a pretty stinking awesome leader for the Israelites. Because once he died in yesterday's reading, the people completely fell apart. We're only three chapters into the book of Judges, and already the Israelites are sinning all over the place! And back then, when people sinned, they didn't have a Jesus they could depend on. They either had to sacrifice, or DIE.

So, there you go. Their choices were very limited, and they STILL continued to sin. Even though they did the opposite of what they were supposed to do, God took mercy on them and sent people called judges to try and steer them away from their sins. Once a judge was sent, he helped them for life, and the people were safe.

But once the judge died, the people went back to their sins again. Pity.

God must have been frustrated, right? I'm pretty frustrated! The Israelites knew what was wrong, and what was right. And now, all of the sudden, they decide to sin uncontrollably. It makes me angry!

The sad part is, I sin everyday. And sorry to tell you, but YOU DO TOO. Truth is, we're sinners, just like the Israelites. And although God can sent little angels to come and help us make the right choices every once in a while, we're still accountable for our actions. We're still the ones to blame.

So, why do we sin?! Why can't we just stop!? I wish we could. But no one on earth is perfect, not even the president, or your boss, or your parents. No one in perfect but God. So if we're not perfect... then it's very very likely that we'll make mistakes.

Even if it means just taking some time before you go to sleep at night, you need to think over what you've done, and how you could do it better. God knows we're sinners, and He still loves us. If we take the time to realize our mistakes, though, He will be very proud of us for knowing what's right and what's wrong.

Plus, once we figure out our mistakes, we can ask to be forgiven. No matter WHERE you are, you can be forgiven. Just like in the Bible, the Israelites sinned over and over and over again, but God helped them out, time and time again. He is there for us, too. Time and time again.

Because, well... He loves us.

So don't ever be caught up in your sins. rejoice that you've realized them, but ask Jesus for forgiveness. No matter how big or small of a sin, He'll love you again and again. Ha ha. That rhymed!

Think about this before you go to bed tonight, or whenever you get the chance. Try to constantly be aware of it, because then you'll realize your sins more, and everyone will live happily ever after!

Peace.

Yep! We are sinners. We are human. All we can do is try to do what God would want us, and be thankful that Jesus died for our sins.
