March 13th -- Judges 6-8

So, yesterday we talked about outcasts and sinners. Not going to lie, it's really difficult to talk to people about Jesus that are pretty sketchy. But sometimes, they're the people that need Jesus the most!

Today, just that happened. Gideon, lowly worker was actually used BY God to save an entire nation from sin! There wasn't really anything special about Gideon, in fact, he actually doubted that it was really God who was speaking to him. He asked God to preform all kinds of miracles to serve as signs that God was really there... so he was a naturally doubtful person.

He was also a very humble person, though! Like I said, God used him to deliver the Israelites out of the grasps of foreign lands, and lead them to peace for 40 whole years! The Israelites wanted to make Gideon King of the land, but he refused. After all, it wasn't him that saved the Israelites, it was God.

But that fact of the matter is, God used an ordinary person like Gideon to save an entire nation. Just like that -- Gideon became a hero in the eyes of his people, and a strong follower in the eyes of God. How cool, right? How completely amazing would it be to be in Gideon's shoes?

Get this: you can. God uses ordinary people like you and me to better His kingdom. There's living proof in today's reading, people! There is NO person on earth that God doesn't love, therefore every living creature can testify to His love.

You've got to make your mark on the world. Gideon started off as a lowly, humble, man. In fact, he was just threshing wheat (whatever THAT means) when God approached him.

God's approaching you, too. And me, and everyone. Whether or not you listen is your own fault, but I can promise you He's just begging you to listen to His miracles and be a servant for Him. Will today be that day? God doesn't care how rich you are, or whether or not you look like a movie star.

"Live each day like it's your last" is a little cliche, I know. But there's no reason why you shouldn't. You don't have to be a super-Christian to serve Jesus. Go tell the world! Go be a Gideon!

I'll be here tomorrow. For now, just go and keep your eyes out for Jesus. In every blessing, and every misfortune, God is there with you.

Revelation 3:20-22

20 Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me. 21 To the one who conquers I will give a place with me on my throne, just as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’

Got it? Good. Oh, and there's also a really good song that depicts this verse pretty well, by Carrie Underwood. Here's a link to the lyrics/song on youtube:

If we just ask God to "use" us as His servants, we never know how or what good will come that day. God sends people to help us and be there for us, and uses us to help others. There are no coiencidences with God!
