HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Did you notice people wearing green around you? I wore lots of shamrocks, which I used to think was just what we do on St. Patrick's Day... but it turns out there's a pretty sentimental meaning to these green little clovers.
If you haven't read yesterday's devotion, you might want to read the first couple of paragraphs, it tells more about St. Patrick and his little-known history. That might set up a good background for today's reading.

Basically, this bishop named Patrick went into Ireland to tell the people there about Jesus. He obeyed God's commands, and set out for Ireland. Patrick was apparently a really great teacher, because he converted most of the country to Christianity! One man and collective ideas changed a nation forever. So, my question is -- how did he do it? And why do we wear green shamrocks because of it?

Patrick, like I said, traveled to Ireland and began teaching. Since the land was SO abundant with clovers, he took advantage of the plant and explained Christianity to the Irish using the clover as a guide.

Shown above, Patrick knew that he didn't have to get into great detail about Jesus and all the love he has for us. He took the simple route, and told people that just like the clover, there was three parts of God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Irish didn't instantly grasp the subject, but they caught on soon enough that there was a REAL God that loved them and that they desperately needed. Once they accepted God into their loves, they were never the same.

Then, the changed believers told others, and they told others, and now Ireland is converted into what it is today.

So, how does that the same for us? Well, first off, how does that DIFFER from us? God still loves us, and He loved the Irish just the same. They were excited to know about Jesus, and I think we should be, too! Go tell it on the mountains! Be a judge to people who need a steady source of love. Jesus will help you along the way.

I know, that's what I've been saying over and over the past few days: go tell people, blah blah blah. But that's why we're here. That's what it takes to be a Christian. I can't stress it enough. The world needs Jesus... and they could know about him starting with YOU.

That's what St. Patrick's Day is celebrating... so go and celebrate!

Peace, my lad.
