YOU ARE THE CLAY.

Sometimes, in action movies, or kung-fu movies, the instructor is always like "you are a tiger" or "you and the warrior" or something cool and awesome like that. But did you ever think you could be compared to CLAY? It sounds a lot less cool than a tiger, but in today's reading, that was the case indeed.

Jeremiah was told to tell the sinful people about a prophesy he heard from God: that He is the potter and they are the clay. That even though God put special care into molding us, He has the power to drop us in an instant, and we'd shatter just like the pot if it were to fall to the ground.

It's a good analogy, really: that God is the potter, and He's constantly shaping our lives into what they should be. We may not approve of the shape of our pots, but god has a specific plan for us. If we try to break away from the potter, He might drop us, and we'd shatter into pieces! (Not literally speaking, of course!) :-)

But I think that Jeremiah had a hard time realizing this awesome fact. He was SO angry when people made fun of him, or mocked him when he spoke of God. People weren't used to God speaking through ordinary people like Jeremiah, so they would think he was insane. They'd try to lock him up, and they succeeded sometimes.

That just goes to show you that the Christian life is NOT easy all the time. Sometimes we have to do things we'd rather not do, and it's tough sometimes to obey God's commands. But Jeremiah did the exact opposite of what we're supposed to do, and he complained to God about the mocking. He prayed that God WOULD destroy the people!

I guess I'm not in Jeremiah's shoes... but it seems a little too harsh that he prayed the people were to die. I know that he must have been going through awful things, and we're free to worship God in America...

But I think that God is trying to tell us that He makes other pots, too. He has unique plans for other pots, not just us. We need to focus on our plan instead of getting mad at Him for others.

I know it's a silly demonstration, but I believe it's true. God is the potter, we are the clay.

Think on that.

Peace out.

I think it pretty awesome that God is the potter and constantly molding us. God's creations are unique.

I hope interesting is a good thing! :) regardless, I'm glad I got your brain thinking. Sometimes the only way you can fully have benefits of the word is if you open yourself up to what it has to offer. I'm glad you're reading with us, and hope to see more comments :)
