Proverbs 8-11
Read these now with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post or at http://www.bible.com/. It may take a while, but these chapters are definitely worth reading.
So, another day. Another blog. Another topic, another message.
But today's message is special. Why, you ask? Because I think it applies to EVERYONE, whether you're Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish... or a follower of Jesus. Because no matter WHAT faith you are, everyone has that jerk that disapproves, right?
That person that just GETS ON YOUR NERVES, and according to YOUR beliefs, is doing nothing right. Maybe it's a group of people, maybe it's one person in particular. I guess it depends on what type of person you are, but if you're ME... I tend to want to do something about it.
I tend to get a little too involved in what I think they're doing wrong... and voice my opinion. I let them know they're wrong, and that they need to shut their fat mouths.
HOWEVER... maybe I need to take a breather every once in a while and shut MY mouth. Maybe we all need to stop being so criticizing of others for ONCE in our lives and just let it be? Just maybe?
This verse really depicts that for me:
Proverbs 11:5
The righteousness of the blameless keeps their ways straight,
but the wicked fall by their own wickedness.
I don't know, maybe this gives another message to you. But the chapters we read today were all about how the wicked will one day fall, and the righteous will endure. It doesn't, however, tell us exactly how that will happen. The Bible doesn't tell us to try and fix other people (not in today's chapters, anyway!) so why do we?
Why do we talk badly about other beliefs behind their backs? Why do we criticize others of something they're doing "wrong"? The verse I just posted says that the wicked fall by their own wickedness.
So, maybe sometimes we need to stand back and let people make mistakes, so that they'll learn from them in the future. It doesn't seem right to me that I try and tell people they're making mistakes when I make plenty of them on my own.
The only person who can judge someone has to have NO mistakes-- God. God will be the judge, God will reign in the end. Help the wicked, but don't try and tell them wrong. They will fall, eventually... but not because WE push them but because their own ways will make them fall.
I know it's easy to say now, it's a pretty easy message to grasp. Don't judge, blah blah blah. But when we're faced with someone who feels differently than us, what will we do?
Make that choice now, so you won't be caught off guard. Will you let God take care of it?
