Proverbs 15-17

QUARRELS.

So we've all gotten in fights, right? You could be fighting with someone right now, or been in a fight this morning, or you may just be in a fight tonight! No matter how much you try to please someone, there will always be someone who disagrees with you.

Sometimes the people you love the most are the ones you get in the biggest quarrels with, which happens more than you think.

However, I found a LOT of verses about the fights in our lives, and how God wants us to act during them in today's reading:

Proverbs 15
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15
18 A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension,
but a patient man calms a quarrel.

Proverbs 16
9 In his heart a man plans his course,
but the LORD determines his steps.

Proverbs 17
14 Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;
so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

It kind of reminds me to be gentle with people, even when you want to rip off their heads. So be patient and never forget God in your decisions. Even if you fight for something with all you have, God always has a plan.

And sometimes, it's easier to just drop a fight and get over it then to fight forever and get nowhere :)
I hope some of this can be helpful to you next time you need assurance. Happy 4th of July!

Peace.

I love Proverbs 16:9. We are like little ants scurrying around on earth, planning everything, busy, busy, but it is God who charts our lives. We just think we are in control. Thank goodness He is in control and determines our steps! Sometimes it is hard not to get angry and use harsh words, but how much better it is to use a gentle word and patience to deal with anger.
