ANCIENT ROCK STARS VS. THE MODERN ONES

Out of ALL of the things I could be talking about, this weird analogy of how Peter is like an ancient rock star keeps popping back into my brain. So. if you're looking for a really deep methodical devotion, you might want to look someplace else.
I figure God has put this weird idea in my head for a reason, so I might as well talk about it!

As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.

Acts 5:15-16

People were just trying to get Peter's SHADOW on them so they could be healed.

Nowadays, people look towards creepy rockers with long tongues, and "singers" that have voices that sound like robots. With very few exceptions, it seems like all these "stars" and "idols" aren't very promising when you're looking for direction.

Today's devotion is a reminder that Jesus should always be the ultimate rock star in our life. It's definitely okay to like a certain band, or look up to a certain celebrity. But make sure you humble yourselves like the sick in today's reading.

Do you have the same passion for God that you do for famous people? Hope so.

Peace out.
