February 26th -- Deuteronomy 16-19

If your Bible isn't handy, you can read these few chapters at www.bible.com or with the BIBLE READER widget to the left of this post!

Ever heard of Hannah Montana? Of course you have. Well, she has this song, I think it's called "No body's Perfect." It was one of Miley Cyrus' main hits, that got her started as playing "Hannah."

But enough about the history of Hannah Montana! My point with all of this is her hit song, "No body's Perfect," because guess what? Nobody is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes every once in a while, and some do more than others. In fact, some people (like myself,) make mistakes all the time. In the moment, you don't realize you're making them. Then BOOM. You feel all bad.

Whether it's a big mistake, or a little one, everyone makes them. We lie, and cheat, and we go against the Bible one flaw after another. If everyone was perfect, we'd have no reason to be worried about mistakes. But, we're not perfect. No one is. So how do we deal with imperfection?

In today's reading, the Israelites had a specific rule for everything they did wrong. They knew what to do with whatever went bad, and they knew how to deal with just about everything. If you did this, you went to court. If you did this, you had to sacrifice this. And if you accidentally murdered someone........ there was a whole town designated for you to flee to.

Pretty crazy stuff.

But that was back then. This is now, and I'm pretty sure we don't get off the hook so easy (or so difficult) for making mistakes. How do we deal with so many mistakes, in a world where sin isn't taken very seriously?

Here's what I think. Repent, repent, repent. And then, you can repent some more. And even a little more.

Since Jesus is our savior, we don't have to sacrifice any animals for our sins. Jesus is our sacrifice, right? So, whenever we make a mistake, we're covered, right? Just like with car insurance, we're covered for a whole year for any mistakes we make.

Of course, I'm just kidding. God's forgiveness isn't something we can just tag along with us, although it will always be there. We can't just shake it off our shoulder every time we sin, or else there's no point in forgiveness. I think we should try and be aware of all sins, whether big or small, and if possible, try to make them right again. If there's no way to fix it (which I doubt,) then you shouldn't freak out about it.

But we still need to be aware. We need to trust Jesus in all of our mistakes, and we will be forgiven. Okie dokie?

Cool. Alright, that's all for now. Come back tomorrow! Go in Peace.
