Luke 16-18

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.

That's all our world cares about, it seems. Do we have enough money? How much money does it cost? Should I save this money for later? But it's on sale!

WHO CARES? God is teaching us through today's reading that money is NOT to be put before God. Nothing is to be put before Him, especially stupid coins and paper that can be traded for STUFF.

In the first story, Jesus is talking about how we have to be smart with money and be trustworthy to it's owner. Yeah, that's right, GOD is our owner, and everything we have belongs to Him. Are we giving freely?

No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Luke 16:13

It makes sense, right? I know we ALL are aware of how much money takes a big chunk out of our time. We've been talking about money and economics this year A LOT. And, it's pretty boring, so I don't wanna get caught up in money all the time.

As if THAT isn't a good enough reason to stay clear of greedy money, another story Jesus tells shows that the rich man and the poor beggar died and had two COMPLETELY different outcomes. The beggar, even though he was sick and was covered in sores, went to live in heaven. While the rich man that lived in the house that the beggar sat at went to hell, because he never lifted a finger to help the beggar.

He was obsessed with money. The Bible says he wore fine linens and lived in luxury. Sounds like a great way to live while we're here at our short time on earth...

But the beggar was humble, and went to heaven. That's eternity, folks.

...For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Luke 18:14

Think on THAT.

Peace.
