Mark 1-3

FIGHTING FIRE WITH FIRE.

Jesus uses a great example of how we shouldn't fight fire with fire in today's reading. The silly teachers of the law who thought they knew EVERYTHING were complaining to Jesus once again. They were all "Jesus is the Devil! That is how He can drive out evil spirits from people!"

Which makes pretty good logic, if you didn't know who Jesus was. But since we know that Jesus truly is the Son of God, we're able to understand that those teachers were just trying to get Jesus in trouble.

Jesus, like always, responded with an excellent comeback. It wasn't demeaning, or offensive, but it set them straight:

So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

Mark3:23-29

Basically, you either have to fight bad with good, or fall short. You can't overcome evil with MORE evil. That is like dividing a house in two, and Jesus said.
You have to instead fight evil with LOVE. Love and evil are two separate powers, and they sure aren't equal. God's love will overcome, we just have to use it.

Peace out.
