ARE YOU A SERVANT OR JUST BEING SERVED?
In today's reading, there was a passage that really opened my eyes. I know I say that like everyday, but that's because God truly does surprise me with something new every single day. Here's what I want to focus on:
Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all."
Mark 10:42-44
In my opinion, it's almost telling us that in order to be great, we have to be humble. We have to be pretty poor in spirit and willing to give our lives away, not because we have to... but because that's what God wants of us. Jesus is the highest of all of us, and even He had to suffer on earth to save our sins.
Our SAVIOR had to suffer.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Mark 10:45
I encourage you to be thankful for what God has done for you. Be thankful for the stuff He's allowed us to possess here on earth, but care more about what He did to secure our spot in eternity!
Peace.
