1st Chronicles 6

ALL THE DEPRESSING STUFF IN LIFE.

Interesting topic? I think so. In fact, I think this might be one of the most controversial topics for Christians and non-believers. "IF there's a God, then why do people suffer? Why do people die?"

When I was little, I wasn't as confused. Everything is easier when we're little, right? We thought babies came from storks and people died so they could be with God. Now that I'm old enough to see the suffering people go through, and all the suffering their loved ones go through, it makes me sad, a little. Heck, it makes me doubt a little, too.

Does it make you wonder?

When I was reading the one chapter today, (1st Chronicles chapter 6) I couldn't help but notice the names listed. I mean, there were TONS of sons of sons of sons. And if God cares enough to bring that many people into the world, then how could He take them out of it, right? HOW CAN GOD LET PEOPLE DIE?

Then, I thought about Easter. God brought His son into the world, and just like that, He died on a cross. For no reason. People out there die sometimes. And to me, it seems like they die for no reason at all. They were good people! Christians, sometimes! Why?! Is there a reason?

First, I think it's important to realize that God doesn't ENJOY seeing people die. When Jesus was crucified, it says in the Bible that God was angry and sad for the loss and all of the sins. So, why do people die for no reason, then?

They don't. They don't die for NO REASON. Each and every person has a certain purpose, and a certain path. God knows their destiny from the minute they're created. And God DOES have a plan. The God I know and love would never kill anyone, no matter HOW guilty or innocent, without a true reason.

Still, after saying this, it seems mean that he lets bad things happen, even if there is a reason. Many people can come to know Jesus through tragedies, so that may help us understand it a little.

And even when you're lonely and confused and depressed and just plain SAD, it's comforting to know that God will always be there to help you through everything. Life on earth is IMMENSELY short compared to what we could have.

John 3.16:'

‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life'

We can't argue with God, because He is always right. We may not agree with His ways or His plan. But there is ALWAYS something we can do when we've lost a loved one... that is, if we hope to see them once again.

We simply cling to that verse, saying that if we keep faith in Jesus we will NOT perish, and we will see them one day. God gives us the choice to choose our path. But if we pray to HIM and stick to HIS ways, then our path will follow His, and we'll get all He has promised.

It's a hard concept to grasp-- that God knows about tragedies. But we can't change someone else and their path. We can only work towards making OUR path better, and believing in God so that our path will lead to eternal life-- LIVING FOREVER WITH HIM.

Peace.

This is a hard one Carly..why bad things happen to good people. If you pray to God for someone, and they still die, it hurts and sometimes your faith is shaken. God doe not cause people to die young, and horrible things to happen to people, but He allows them to happen,as part of His plan for us in this life time. John 3:16 is my favorite verse. I memorized it at an early age. God allowed His only son to suffer and die, so that we suffer here on earth and die, but have eternal life. We too live after our earthly life, and we had a reason and a purpose in our life. The losses and tragedies just prepare us for our second life, and bring us closer to God. It is hard to make sense of it all. We are not to decipher it, as it is all a part of the weaving and grand scheme of life. We are just to trust, have faith, and follow God.
