KNOW IT ALLS.

Did anyone see Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" recently? It was a pretty good movie, in my opinion. No, I'm not a movie critique. Actually, I'm not really a certified anything at the moment, but I like talking about the Bible and devotions best... so that's what I'll do.

In today's reading, there was this guy named Absalom. He was a son of King David, and yesterday we learned that he killed his own brother. Anyway, Absalom is the name of the caterpillar in the movie "Alice in Wonderland," and I think that MAYBE they named him that because of Absalom in the Bible.

Absalom (the caterpillar) thought he knew Alice soooooo well. He thought he knew everything actually, and no matter what she did to prove herself, he was set on the fact that he's absolutely correct in everything. That must of been a bit of a downer for Alice... considering she knew she was right. Sometimes, when you try to persuade to someone that you're right, they think the exact opposite. It's pretty frustrating.

Anyway, in today's reading, Absalom thought HE knew it all, too. He was the son of a King (a prince) but he still wanted more. He thought he was better than his father. He thought he was smarter, better looking.

So, while his father was busy trying to run all of the Israelites, Absalom was busy trying to overthrow his father and convince everyone that he himself would make a better King. It turned out to be a big mess, and it was confusing to even READ, let alone have to be there.

That's what I think happens to us as Christians, (or as humans, for that matter,) sometimes. We try to convince someone of something, (maybe try to plant the Jesus seed in their head,) and they refuse. They have their OWN ideas of Jesus, and don't bother to listen. I know I'm like that sometimes, too. Very opinionated :)

What I'm trying to get at is... there are some stubborn people out there. They think they're right. Just like Absalom. Just like the caterpillar in "Alice in Wonderland." But even if you try and try to convince them they're wrong, and they STILL don't listen... God will reward the ones who even try.

2 Chronicles 15.7:

'But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.'

Oh, and even when YOU'RE convinced that YOU'RE right, don't be stubborn, either. The world could be a much better place if people just agree to disagree.

Agreeing to disagree sounds good. In real life, it is hard to do! ha! All you can do is, stick with your convictions, and if they are in alignment with God, your rewards will come.
