One God, One Heart.
Powerful reading today, right? If you haven't already, please read 2nd Kings 4-5 at http://www.bible.com/ or with the BIBLE READER to the left of this post. I'll be here when you get back.
For those of you who have read, wasn't it a little confusing at first? I was seeing all these miracles that Elisha was doing, and it's not like I doubted they existed, because they were written in the Bible. But I guess I was just really confused as to why Elisha was doing all these great things-- and not God. Why wasn't God healing people, right? It was like Elisha got to play God for a little while.
But then it hit me-- it wasn't Elisha doing all these miracles by himself! He had the spirit of God moving through him, which made more sense. I think that's how it is with a lot of things, now that I think about it. God is responsible for ever "good coincidence" of any kind. There's no good luck or lucky situations, because it's really just a blessing from God.
Does that make sense? Elisha was in tune with God-- they got each other. Elisha loved God with all his heart, and God loved Elisha. God was doing miracles and helping his people through Elisha with a handy little thing called the Holy Spirit, which (needless to say) still exists today.
I'm finally starting to understand the trinity now, and maybe you're a master of the three parts of God already. But if you're with me, everything is finally piecing together. It's not like there are three Gods out there, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They're all connected. God sends his Spirit into all the believers of Him, including what God did with his Son, Jesus.
He sent his Spirit to come down to earth to make a difference, and to show people that there IS a God, and His spirit still exists today, in every believer out there.
So if you are like Elisha, or know someone like Elisha, then God can move through you, too. His spirit will be with you wherever you go. That's really our purpose here, anyway. God uses us to proclaim His love to everyone.
That's why it's SO important to love your neighbors, (not just the people that live next to you, either,) because God is trying to spread His love to everyone.
There isn't a human out there who doesn't need the love of God. Yeah, it might be scary to go talk to someone about God. Maybe they're sketchy, maybe they don't look too friendly. Maybe they're poor, maybe they're filthy rich. Regardless of what "type" of person it is, THEY ALL NEED GOD. It's out job to work for God, and He will enable to do the impossible, like He did with Elisha.
Matthew 28.19:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
